Chimes for the souls of the lost babies

Installation, Performance

Where do the souls of babies end up when they are lost and what do they confess when everything seems to have been surrendered to the self-destructive vortex of a dystopian present?

The right to life, the coercion to a slow, torturous or instantaneous death are projected on our screens with a normalized tactic which legitimizes the extreme Necropolitics of our times. While the absolute exercise of sovereignty controls the mortality of humans, animals and all living beings by dictating who can live and who can die, questions of alternative places and ways of resistance are raised – more than ever before.

Through this confrontation with death, the “Chimes for the souls of lost babies” become a collective bell-ringing goat body that creates an intermediate listening space for the lost souls. Rattles, multiple arms and legs deafeningly attempt to create a playful dialogue with beings of the hereafter who will visit us for returning again to where they permanently reside.

If we do finally converse with some of them, it will be to constitute a ritualistic call for a massive resurgence against the necropolitics of our times.
